The Sundance Film Festival is happening right now!

As I write this, the Sundance Film Festival is in full swing.

This festival is held annually in the month of January and this year it got rolling on the 17th and will continue through the 27th.
This is day seven of the festival and the highlight that is scheduled for today is: Exploring Film Music, the Phenomenon of Julian Assange.
“The Sundance Film Festival  brings the most original storytellers together with the most adventurous audiences for its annual program of dramatic and documentary films, shorts, New Frontier films, installations, performances, panel discussions, and dynamic music events…”
If you aren’t able to attend this year, you can still catch it on the Sundance channel or live streaming through their website:
If you like the latest and most creative independent films and music and love to be in on the fun, plan on going next year! And if you like to watch from the comfort of your home, hurry, and go to their website and find out how to connect.

Ghosts and Goblins! Witches and Wizards!

Ghosts and goblins! Witches and wizards!
Monsters and meatballs…  Beware!
Your night to shine is almost here!
All Hallows Eve will soon be upon us and it’s time to start planning the best Monster Bash of your lives!
Get together with your friends and start working out the details.

The who’s, what’s, when’s and where’s…
The tricks and the treats…

The foods and drinks!
It’s all part of the fun and you’ll want to get it done.

Don’t forget to put in your order for your scenic backdrop or step and repeat banner and any lighting, red carpet or stanchions you might need. You can go to Step and Repeat LA online at:  www.stepandrepeatla.com

Here’s an idea for a theme within a theme for Halloween:
Have everyone come as their favorite actor or actress of the 1930′s or 1940′s like:
Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Myrna Loy, John Wayne, Dean Martin or Jerry Lewis!

There are hundreds of great actors to choose from.

Then have a special Hollywood Backdrop with red carpet and lights.  Have someone dress up like one of the old newspaper guys to take pictures of all your “celebrities” in black and white photos (digital of course).
Have someone put the photos all together like a newspaper with headlines and special quips about the party!

Think of the fun! This could be the best Halloween party ever!

Planning a successful awards ceremony

Step and Repeat LA loves to help teams of all sorts to create fun and memorable awards ceremonies.

step and repeat

Of course we always recommend including a step and repeat banner or media wall to help capture those once-in-a-lifetime memories.
But in addition to a step and repeat, there are a few other things you want to keep in mind in order to create that great event…
So we put together this list to help with your event planning.

Date/Time:

Try to select a date and time that works for as much of your team as possible.

If spouses are attending, try to start the event late enough to give everyone enough time to get ready and arrive. Don’t make the event start so late that the awards last into the wee hours… especially if you are having the event on a weekday.

Location:

Select a location that is special and shows that you are honoring the award recipients.

This doesn’t mean breaking the bank on the venue alone. It does mean you don’t want to hold the event at the local fast food restaurant.

Theme:

Pick a theme that your group will enjoy, whether it is black tie, beach time or space cowboy, come up with a theme that speaks to your team.

Floor plan and seating:

Make sure there is plenty of room for recipients to make their way to the stage to accept their awards.

Timing of Meal/Ceremonies:

If your event includes a meal, plan the timing so that the food is not being served while the awards are being announced.

Music:

Pick the music for before, during and after the event to match the theme and to contribute to the event rather than detract from it.

MC/Hosts:

Decide if you will have one MC giving out awards or several. There are many ways you can do this. None of them are wrong. Decide what is best for your group.

Lighting:

Plan what lighting to use throughout the event and what lighting to use when the awards start. A couple of extra spots can add a subtle sense of importance to the awards portion of the ceremony.

Banner and red carpet location:

Of course you want to have a great step and repeat backdrop from Step and Repeat LA. The step and repeat backdrop with your company or group logo and slogan is a great way to add the feeling of importance that your awards ceremony deserves.

Photographers/Videographers

Plan who will take the photos and/or videos of the event. Have them capture recipients in front of the step and repeat backdrop to create memorable images for your next newsletter.

After the official ceremonies, let everyone come up for their photo-op in front of the banner so they can all have a memento of the event.

The Los Angeles Theatre Center Presents…

You are in for a treat!
Los Angeles Premiere!

The Los Angeles Theatre Center (THELATC) has a fantastic show debut this September on the 7th, 8th, and 9th.

Andre’ & Dorine
Written by Kulunka Teatro.
Directed by Inaki Rikarte.
Produced by Kulunko Teatro and The Latino Theater Company in association with Albuquerque Journal Theater.

André & Dorine is a piece of contemporary Mask Theatre about a couple who needs to remember who they were, so they don’t forget who they are. In a small room where memories hang over the walls, sound the keys of a typewriter and the notes of a cello. They are André and Dorine, an elderly couple gently decaying from routine and neglect, with a passion once so huge for each other now fading into indifference. But an event comes to break the monotony: Alzheimer’s, our greatest antagonist, devourer of memories and of identity itself.

Kulunka Teatro’s contemporary and committed mask theatre transcends language barriers with no text or words. It explores uplifting and thought provoking themes with movement, masks and music.

This award-winning show has toured extensively in places such as Spain, South America, China and Europe and is now coming to us, here, in the United States.
Step and Repeat LA has worked with the Los Angeles Theatre Center and has had the pleasure of seeing some of the great productions this center has offered.
Take the time and go see this latest award-winning show in September and let us know what you think. We are sure your experience will be as memorable as ours.

Ticket information is available here.

Pictures Convey Your Success

A picture is worth a thousand wordsMedia Walls.

Photos taken in front of your step and repeat can create lasting impressions for your public. They can position your brand as something that means excitement and professionalism.

Pictures of your guests and/or celebrities on the red carpet in front of your professionally designed step and repeat banner or wall can become a timeless part of your marketing image.

These photos can be used again and again in marketing materials, blogs or social media posts. They can continue to remind your public of who you are and will help you drive home your message. If you haven’t already done so, take some time to think about what you want to project to the general public. Identify your niche, what sets you apart. Our professional designers can help you turn those ideas into the ideal step and repeat for your event.

Then with the pictures from that event you can continue to create positive perceptions of your company by sharing the many wonderful pictures you will get.

A picture is worth a thousand words because it can tell a deeper and more impactful story. If you are able to capture even a dozen great pictures in front of your step and repeat you will have created  a very valuable marketing tool to be used again and again.
